Five Take: Boots

So here we go, after a brief festive re-introduction to Five Take, we're ready to start the new year with a bang!....(Oh I didn't mean it to sound so cheerleader-y, I just am *that* excited!)

So for those of you who don't know, Five Take is a group of 5 bloggers made up of Nicole, Rebecca, Claire, Gina and myself, each week we select a theme and interpret said theme in our own style.

This week: Boots. I don't know about you but as soon as September hits I can't wait to whip out my boots, I love boots especially knee high boots, but along with that comes a sense of sadness because with my now famous (I'm always banging on about them) 19 inch calves, I find it very difficult to find boots to fit, every year I would head into Evans with a sadness in my soul, knowing full well that there would be a slim (ha ha) chance I'd find a pair to fit. So a couple of years ago I decided to broaden my boot sights and search elsewhere.

This particular pair where purchased from La Redoute about 2 years ago, they were on the pricey side (around £130) but the fit is perfect, they have an elasticated panel but its not (unlike some other boots i have) stretched to within an inch of its life. I urge you to look at the ones they have this year, I pretty much want them all, my bank account however, does not.

A quick note on the dress, this is a prime example of cut verses size. This is an 18 (UK) from Primark (notorious for small sizing plus I've never been an 18 ever.) yet it fits with bags of room, so always try something on even if it says its not your size.

Now they are not the most practical of boots and I can't go on 5 mile hikes in them, but they look fabulous and are great for smart/casual occasions or occasions where someone drives me around!! ha ha!!

Make sure you head on over to the other four Five Takers and see what they've come up with......

  2. They are great and lovely quality too, worth the extra dosh too. Primark now go up to a 20, a LOT is tiny and really not forgiving but the is the odd gem I've picked up from there!

  3. Very cute! I'm happy you came out on the good side of the boots hunting. I still haven't found a pair that work for me. I love the strips on the dress, and that it can be worn in multiple ways with a belt and such :).

  5. I know what you mean Rebecca, it can be really disheartening, it is a very versatile dress, it sat unworn in my wardrobe for about 2 years as I loved it on the hanger, but every time I put it on, I just didn't like it, but then something just clocked!!

I'm really hit and miss with Evans Joanna, sometimes ok, sometime not, so I lost heart especially after losing 7 stone, going into the marble arch store all excited to try on every pair in the shop for none of them to fit, I sobbed my heart out!!! xxx

  9. love the boots! I've been finding that recently if I try stuff, I'm sometimes pleasantly surprised, so am trying to be open minded when it comes to clothes sizing!

  10. That's definitely the attitude, don't be put off by 2 little numbers on a label! Hold it up, if it looks like it will fit try it on!!! Dresses and tops more so, but you'd probably even be surprised by some trousers! xx
