Review: Simply Be, Simply Voluptuous Denim Dress

Sorry for the slightly demented look on my face!!! It is in no way a reflection of my outfit!! Anyway.... The lovely folk over at Simply Be very kindly let me pick three items for review, this is the first in that series of three.

When scrolling through the vast choice of clothes on the Simply Be site, this denim dress caught my eye, its part of the Simply Voluptuous range, offering garments in the usual range of sizes but with a choice of cup sizes: B-DD, E-G & H-K. I ordered the 22 in the B-DD, I *think* I'm a DD/E (I'm ashamed to say I've never been fitted for a bra - cue sharp intake of breath!!, sorry).

The material was a lot more lightweight than I had expected which makes it great as an all year round garment, I think it would look great with flip flops in the summer and equally as nice with woolly tights for the winter. The fit for me wasn't the best, I think I'm somewhere between a 20 and a 22 and I found the sleeves to be on the baggy side. But that's just my inbetweenie body!!

I chose to add my own belt to it because it was a little on the big side, but it does have a tie to the back to adjust the waist to suit. The length was perfect (I'm 5'7") and I love the indigo colour. In terms of the style its so good for me because as much as I like dresses I often find myself feeling too dressed up and have to try and dress it down in some way, but this dress is a great mix. The denim gives it a casual feel whilst the tailoring makes you feel smart.

I don't look like this....that's OK though!!

If you're looking for a great day dress that's going to last you through the seasons I can highly recommend this dress, its easy to wear and feels great.

  1. Girl, get yourself to Bravissimo and get measured!!

I wasn't expecting the dress to be such a 'A Line' on the skirt, but I likes it!

  3. It's one of my new year resolutions to get measured, I don't think theres a bravissmo near me, and they only go up to 40 inch back so won't fit, but I will seek out a suitable brassiere merchants and have them fondeled for the greater good!

Its a lovely dress Gina, and thank you xxx

  4. I bet you would be surprised at your back measurements, I know I was, Just don't go to marks and Spencer they are shockingly bad!!!

The dress is gorgeous, I found the sleeves on a few things wide, I think for a big girl I just don't have very big arms? I am dying to try something from the simply voluptuous range :) x
